Three ways in

Start from whatever you have.

  1. An RSS feed

Paste the feed URL from the show's website or hosting page. You get the latest 30 episodes with dates and lengths to choose from.

  2. An app link

Paste a share link from Apple Podcasts or Spotify. We look up the show's feed and match the episode for you.

  3. The audio file

Got an MP3 from your editor or host? Upload it and convert it the same way.

Finding the feed

Where to find a podcast's RSS feed.

Every public podcast has an RSS feed: a web address listing each episode and its audio file. Podcast apps read it to show new episodes. You can usually find it in one of these places:

  • The show's website. Look for an "RSS" link or icon near the subscribe buttons.
  • The hosting platform. Buzzsprout, Libsyn, Simplecast, Megaphone, Transistor and others show the feed on the show's public page.
  • Skip it. Paste the Apple Podcasts link instead. Apple publishes each show's feed, so we can find it for you.

What the text looks like

You get one paragraph per speaker turn, each with a timestamp you can click to hear that moment. Rename speakers once, use find and replace for names the model misheard, then copy the whole transcript or export it as TXT or Markdown. For video clips, SRT and VTT exports keep the timing.

Converting many episodes

Each episode becomes its own private project in your workspace. Monthly plans include 20 or 60 hours, enough for a weekly show or a back catalog, and hour packs never expire. See pricing.

Upload instead

Already have the recording? Drop the file in.

Unreleased episodes, private interviews and Spotify-exclusive shows have no public feed. Upload the audio and you get the same transcript, timestamps and show notes.

Podcast to text questions

How do I convert a podcast to text?

Paste the podcast's RSS feed or an Apple Podcasts or Spotify episode link into CastTranscript, choose the episode and start the transcript. You can also upload an MP3 file.

What is a podcast RSS feed?

It is a public web address that lists a show's episodes and their audio files. Podcast apps use it to deliver new episodes. Most show websites and hosting pages link to it.

Can I convert an entire podcast back catalog?

Yes, one episode at a time. Each episode is a separate transcript in your workspace. Monthly plans include 20 or 60 hours of transcription.

Which file formats can I export?

Plain text, Markdown with show notes and chapters, and SRT or WebVTT subtitles when sentence timing is available.

Do I need the audio file?

No. For public podcasts, a feed or episode link is enough. Upload a file only for private, unreleased or exclusive episodes.
